Crispy Baked Kale Chips

Serves 4

Kale with its dark green leafy beauty is packed full of Vitamin K, Vitamin A and health-promoting antioxidants. Vitamin K is essential for a variety of functions in the body including the prevention of blood clotting and bone health; while Vitamin A is needed for a healthy immune system and vision.

Baking kale until its crispy is a delicious way to enjoy this nutritious vegetable. It’s a very versatile one and is perfect to be eaten on its own from a bowl as a snack or served as an accompaniment to fish, meat or vegetarian dishes.

Ingredients

  • 10-12 kale leaves, stems removed and leaves washed and dried thoroughly
  • 2 Tbspn olive oil
  • 1 Tbspn tamari or soy sauce
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp all-purpose seasoning or your favourite dried herbs

Directions

Pre-heat the oven to 160°C. Line a large flat tray with baking paper.

Spread out the washed and dried kale leaves on the tray. Drizzle over the olive oil, tamari (or soy sauce), pepper and dried herbs.

Bake in the oven for about 15-20 minutes or until crispy (turn once during cooking)

NB: Watch the kale carefully and if you notice it burning, reduce the temperature.
