Casas Del Sol, Koh Tao, Thailand

Koh Tao in Thailand has started to cater for more luxury travel while maintaining a bohemian feel.

The island itself is still a tropical paradise that has managed to escape the clutches of international franchises. It became developed as a tourist destination in the 1980’s and 1990’s,by adventurous backpackers who recognised the wealth of what the local ecology offered for scuba divers.

The vibe is lazy and cool.  The island has managed to escape the craziness of nightlife in Koh Phagnan and Koh Samui. Beach- front bars offer some of the best sunset views that you might find, while fairy- lights and lanterns illuminate the beach at night.

The island has a reputation as a return destination for many tourists, with many fearful of mainstream tourism taking away from its essence.

Casas Del Sol, Koh Tao are villas that offer luxury to travellers while remaining respectful of the local environment and avoiding the ostentatious.  They were designed by Australian born, Christina Saenz de Santamaria, to encapsulated “Beach Boutique Chic”, described as understated luxury, within a modern, tropical design, that captures the sensory islands experience of sea, sun and stars.

The two-bedroom villas have breathtaking views of the open- ocean, island and sunsets. They also offer the perfect spot for morning and evening mediation or yoga. Four of the five villas have private swimming pools.

The villas themselves are spacious with open plan living and high ceilings.  The design blends the indoor and outdoor environments together, with large windows and expansive patio doors, creating a sense of immense tranquility and wellbeing for all visitors.

The style influence owes a lot to Mediterranean culture with crisp white walls and the use of polished concrete echoing the modernized fincas of the Spanish Balearic Islands. However the incorporation of local Thai elements such as native timber ensures a feel for local building traditions is maintained throughout.

Koh Tao is one of the few tropical destinations yet to be overrun by development. Casas Del Sol offers the perfect location for rejuvenation, contemplation and just the right amount of luxury.
